We provide Black identifying students and entrepreneurs with access to social funding.

 We Funded It believes in our community and as a result, we offer grants for members of our community who need aid for financing a business venture or education. We provide grants for individuals within the Black community who exemplify our values of consistency, drive and community.

 Supporting documents

Applicants (dependent on type of funding) will be expected to provide essays, reference letters, budget templates and an introduction video for the application process. Documents are encouraged to be sent with the application form. Sending application documents separately or via email may result in your application being deemed as incomplete, resulting in a delay of your application review.

Integrity

At We Funded It, we admire integrity and honesty. Applicants are expected to submit original work and original documents. Any evidence of plagiarism will result in automatic dismissal of the application.

 WFI Black Business Grants

WFI offers financial support through charitable grants to majority Black-owned startups and established businesses that are involved in community engagement.

General eligibility requirements and conditions:

  • Business is at least majority-owned by someone who identifies as Black.

  • Creates full-time or part-time sustainable employment for members of the Black community.

  • Business is located within Canada.

  • The applicant agrees to become a contributor to the We Funded It community as a donor, mentor or volunteer.

  • The applicant agrees to complete the quick business plan set forth in the application form.

  • Agrees to supply two business and one personal reference.

WFI Student Bursaries

WFI offers support to Black students through providing bursaries to students pursuing part-time/full-time studies within a Canadian academic institution.

General eligibility requirements and conditions:

  • Proof of enrollment (official transcript).

  • Must be attending a school in Canada (including vocational studies).

  • Must demonstrate a state of financial need.

  • Must identify as Black.

  • Available for students pursuing part-time or full-time studies.

  • Funding to be used for tuition or academic project funding.
